A closed position is an asset you no longer follow after its transaction history reaches zero remaining shares. Keep closed positions keeps qualifying positions visible in Holdings.
A position must meet all of these requirements:
Simple-mode positions, cash entries, and positions with shares remaining are not retained by this setting.
For example, imagine that you buy 10 shares, sell all 10 shares, and then unfollow the stock. With Keep closed positions enabled, the stock remains under Closed with its realized profit or loss and percentage.
If you sell only 8 of the 10 shares, the position still has 2 shares. It does not qualify as a closed position.
The setting saves immediately and the Holdings view refreshes. After you record the complete sale and unfollow the asset, the qualifying position appears under Closed.
A retained closed row has no remaining shares or active market value. It uses your saved transaction history to display realized performance, but it does not resubscribe to the asset or turn it back into an active holding.
Turning the setting off hides qualifying closed rows from Holdings but does not delete their transactions. Turning it on again can restore the rows while their transaction history remains available.
