Established in 1850 and headquartered in Brussels, the Banque nationale de Belgique S.A. functions as Belgium's central bank. Its core mandate involves formulating and implementing the Eurosystem's monetary policy, alongside the production and distribution of banknotes and coinage. It is also instrumental in promoting monetary and financial stability, supported by its extensive collection, analysis, and publication of economic and financial data. Beyond these pivotal roles, the bank centralizes the federal state's financial operations, manages international financial settlements, and actively participates in anti-money laundering efforts and the enforcement of financial regulations.
