Custom assets let you manually track investments such as a savings account or a property. Choose Account to track a balance, or Asset to track an investment with a price and quantity.
To find custom assets, open Home, select the magnifying-glass icon at the top right, then select Custom in the category row below the search field. Scroll the category row horizontally if Custom is not visible.
You can create one custom asset with the free version of Stock Events. PRO supports unlimited custom assets.
Current Balance must be greater than zero for an Account. Price and Quantity must both be greater than zero for an Asset.
For example, to track one property valued at $250,000, select Asset, choose USD as the Currency, enter 250000 as the Price, and enter 1 as the Quantity. Set Price Date to the date of that valuation.
If you start from Combined View, Stock Events asks you to select an individual portfolio before opening the custom asset editor.
Income is optional. You can configure it during creation or later from the custom asset editor.
For percentage income, enter the annual rate even when payments repeat monthly or on another schedule. Stock Events distributes the annual rate across the scheduled payments. For an Asset, the calculation uses its recorded price, so updating the price can change the calculated income.
For the property example with Quantity set to 1, entering 1000 as Fixed Income and choosing a monthly schedule tracks $1,000 for each scheduled payment. For multiple units, the fixed income amount applies to each unit held.
Stock Events uses these settings to calculate the income tracked in the app. To turn income off, select the active income option again so it is no longer selected, then save or update the entry.
Custom Asset prices are entered manually. Use Add Price when the value per unit changes.
A price dated before the current recorded price adds historical data without replacing the newer current price. Adding a price does not change the quantity you hold.
Add Price is available for the Asset type. For an Account, update the position as described below.
Use the position screen to record changes in the quantity held or an account balance.
For an Account, each unit represents one unit of its currency at a price of 1. For example, to record a $500 deposit into a USD account, add a Buy transaction for 500 Shares at a Price of 1 USD. To record a $200 withdrawal, add a Sell transaction for 200 Shares at a Price of 1 USD.
Enter the amount being added or removed, rather than the new total balance. These entries update the balance tracked in Stock Events.
Symbol, Currency, and the Account or Asset choice cannot be changed after creation. Use Add Price for price changes and the position screen for quantity or balance changes.
Deleting a custom asset removes the asset and its associated positions and transactions across your portfolios and watchlists. This is not limited to the portfolio currently selected.
