Move a position to another symbol
Move to other Symbol transfers a position's settings and active transactions to another symbol within the selected manual portfolio or watchlist. This is useful when a company changes its ticker or when a position was added under the wrong listing.
In the app, open the position and its Advanced Settings. On the web, open Edit Holdings and select the settings icon in the Holdings window.
Move a position in the app
- Select the manual portfolio or watchlist containing the position.
- Open the stock or ETF.
- Select the large position button that shows your current share count or Enter Your Shares.
- Select the settings icon in the top-right corner.
- On Advanced Settings, scroll down and select Move to other Symbol.
- Search for and select the destination symbol.
- Review the source and destination symbols, then select Confirm.
Move a position on the web
- Select the manual portfolio or watchlist containing the position.
- Open the stock or ETF and select Edit Holdings.
- Select the settings icon in the top-right corner of the Holdings window.
- Select Move to other Symbol.
- Search for the destination symbol and select Confirm beside it.
- Review the source and destination symbols, then select Confirm again.
If the destination symbol already exists
If the destination is already in the selected watchlist, Stock Events shows SYMBOL already exists.
- Cancel: Keep both positions unchanged.
- Replace and move: Replace the destination's position settings and transaction history with the source data, then complete the move.
Replace and move is destructive because the existing destination data is replaced. Review both symbols before confirming.
What changes
- The source position is removed from the selected watchlist, and the destination symbol opens with the transferred position settings and transactions.
- Only the selected manual portfolio or watchlist changes.
- Brokerage-synced and combined watchlists are not supported.
- Other watchlists, Auto Buys, and Price Alerts are not moved.
