Seplat Energy Plc engages in the oil and gas exploration and production, and gas processing activities in Nigeria, the Bahamas, Italy, Switzerland, Barbados, and England. It operates through two segments, Oil and Gas. The Oil segment explores, develops, and produces crude oil. Its Gas segment produces and processes gas. It operates across seven oil and gas blocks in the prolific Niger Delta region of Nigeria. In addition, it operates as an independent energy company; and engages in compressed natural gas and renewable power generation activities. The company was formerly known as Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc and changed its name to Seplat Energy Plc in May 2021. Seplat Energy Plc was incorporated in 2009 and is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria.
