First Trust Exchange-Traded Fund V - First Trust Managed Futures Strategy Fund is an exchange traded fund launched and managed by First Trust Advisors LP. It invests in fixed income and commodity markets of global region. It takes long and short positions to invest directly and indirectly through derivatives like futures in stocks of companies operating across diversified sectors. For the fixed income portion, the fund invests directly and through derivatives like futures in short-term fixed income securities that include U.S. government and agency securities, sovereign debt obligations of non-U.S. countries and money market instruments. For the commodity portion, the fund takes long and short positions to invest in commodity futures. It invests through a wholly owned Cayman Islands subsidiary. The fund employs fundamental and quantitative analysis to create its portfolio. It benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against the ICE BofA 3-Month U.S. Treasury Bill Index, the Credit Suisse Managed Futures Liquid Index, and the S&P 500 Index.
