Holmen AB (publ) is an international enterprise specializing in the production and sale of paperboards, various paper types, wood-based goods, and renewable electricity. Its operations span Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, the broader European continent, Asia, and other global markets. The company's Forest division is responsible for overseeing approximately one million hectares of woodland. From these forests, it supplies raw materials like logs, pulpwood, and biomass fuel to industrial clients such as sawmills, as well as pulp and paperboard production facilities. The Paperboard unit manufactures paperboards primarily for consumer packaging applications, distributing them to brand proprietors, processing companies, and bulk purchasers. Meanwhile, its Paper division supplies various paper types suitable for books, periodicals, marketing materials, and packaging purposes, with a clientele that includes publishing houses, printing businesses, and retail outlets. Within its Wood Products section, Holmen manufactures and delivers materials such as timber for construction and carpentry, cross-laminated timber (CLT) and glulam, plus wood stock for pallets and packaging. These products cater to the building, woodworking, and packaging sectors, alongside material suppliers, and this segment also manages several sawmills. Finally, the Renewable Energy division generates electricity through the operation of 21 hydroelectric plants and wind farms that collectively yield around 1.2 terawatt-hours (TWh) of power annually.
