Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. is an enterprise primarily focused on the discovery, advancement, and extraction of a broad spectrum of mineral resources and precious metals, predominantly within Africa. Its exploration efforts target deposits rich in platinum, palladium, nickel, copper, gold, rhodium, zinc, silver, germanium, and lead. The company's significant ventures include the Platreef project, situated in the Northern Limb of South Africa's Bushveld Complex; the Kipushi project, located in the Democratic Republic of Congo's Haut-Katanga Province; and the Kamoa-Kakula project, which lies within the Central African Copperbelt. Additionally, Ivanhoe Mines holds full ownership of the Western Foreland exploration project, encompassing roughly 2,407 square kilometers, also located in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A strategic alliance with China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. enables collaboration on assessing opportunities for mineral project exploration, development, acquisition, production, smelting, and logistics throughout Africa. Founded in 1993 and based in Vancouver, Canada, the company operated as Ivanplats Limited until its rebranding to Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. in August 2013.
