This fund strives to achieve substantial growth of its invested capital over the long term. Typically, at least 80% of the fund's net assets (including any funds acquired through borrowing for investment purposes) are committed to equity-related holdings of smaller corporations. These holdings encompass various types of securities, such as preferred shares, warrants, instruments convertible into common or preferred stock, and other forms of ownership interests in an entity. As presently defined by the manager, a small-cap company is one whose market valuation, at the point of purchase, either falls within the range of the Russell 2000® Index—a widely recognized benchmark for 2,000 of the smallest U.S. businesses—or is capped at $3 billion.
