The Hamilton Champions Canadian Utilities Index ETF takes a broad approach to defining utilities, expanding beyond traditional sectors to include industries that share similar infrastructure-based business models and essential-service demand. Eligible companies must be listed on the TSX and classified within specific FactSet industries, including Electric Utilities, Gas Distributors, Water Utilities, Alternative Power Generation, Oil & Gas Pipelines, Major Telecommunications, or Wireless Telecommunications. Companies must also meet minimum thresholds for market capitalization, average daily value traded, and 12-month forward dividend yield. Securities are ranked primarily by market cap. If a category cannot be fully populated with qualifying securities, dividend yield requirements are gradually reduced until the category is filled or no further eligible securities remain. As a result, the final index composition may contain fewer than 12 constituents. All holdings are equally weighted and rebalanced on a quarterly basis.
