The fund endeavors to generate long-term capital appreciation. To achieve this, it typically commits at least 80% of its net assets, along with any borrowed capital for investment, to securities of companies its portfolio managers deem to be focused on life sciences. As a foundational aspect of its investment approach, the fund has a policy to generally deploy at least 25% of its total assets into companies formally categorized within the "life sciences" sector.
