The primary objective of this fund is to offer extensive access to high-quality U.S. debt instruments. To meet this goal, the portfolio is constructed from a variety of U.S. Treasury bonds and mortgage-backed securities, encompassing a full range of durations including short, intermediate, and long maturities. As with other fixed-income funds, a notable risk is that an uptick in interest rates may cause the market value of the underlying bonds to fall, thereby diminishing the fund's net asset value (NAV).
