Ordinarily, the fund commits at least 80% of its total assets (including any capital acquired through borrowing) to a diverse array of fixed-income securities. These investments primarily encompass bonds issued by corporations, governmental entities, and those backed by mortgages, although the fund is not confined solely to these types. A key criterion is that, at the moment of purchase, these bonds must possess an investment-grade credit rating. This typically means a rating of at least BBB- from S&P Global Ratings or Baa3 from Moody's Investors Service, or an equivalent assessment from any other nationally recognized statistical rating organization (NRSRO). If a bond is unrated, it must nonetheless be deemed of comparable quality.
