1 - exdiv date = dividend taken from price 2 - price driven by multiple things including NVDA price -- which is down Meaning - do you expect NVDY to go UP when NVDA is going down? And .. if they paid you 3$ dividend ... the price would go DOWN by 3$ ... meaning .. YieldMax is "easy" to go down ... harder to go up.... I would LOVE to have YieldMax have an annual or semi-annual (2x a year) a dividend/distribution holiday ... so exdiv didn't drive down the price ... and give us 2 months for the price to go back up .. Also -- the more people buying the shares -- the more they have to divy (no pun intended) -- among more people the smaller the dividend... so I recommend you sell your shares so My dividend goes up next year :) :) .. (joking) ... --- hang in there ... if you understood income covered call ETFs ... then this is a rough time. If you don't understand income covered call ETFs ... then you need to either understand it or abandon it -- cuz it will almost always feel poor to you. But -- it is still paying 65% APR --- are we realllly that spoiled?
most yieldmax etfs have only gone down, though. i own several for the monthly income, and even with averaging down, its hard to recover, especially after stock splits. once the market recovers as historically it does, i may abandon these myself due to the risk vs reward.
MSTY --- Bought at 21 ... currently at .... 22 almost 23. but you did say "most" ... so i guess pointing out a few that didn't ... won't matter. Yeah -- I think it would be best to exit a 60% dividend income and go into SCHD ... with its 3.8% income... which is ... in a major market pullback ... also down. I am not finding any income ETFs that are going UP in a 10+% market pullback ... if you don't mind sharing where you can beat 60% income ... People should NOT be in YieldMax for Total Return ... unless you are holding for 3-5 years (cross fingers of course) ... --- but those that are doing that ... aren't complaining about a down market that lets them buy more shares at a better price
Well, for example Ive owned Tsly for over a year now, It has only ever gone down. Then the stock split, then it tanked more. I dont mind cheaper shares and continue to average down, but I mostly worry that it will split again. I also own NVDY and got in around $19 and watched it ride up until $30. Still holding that too for long term. Currently DCA in both. But, yea, time in market usually wins, and Im strictly a dividend longterm investor with a diverse stock selection. I also own SCHD for my son, I enjoy that one.
