The CLIM exchange-traded fund (ETF) tracks an index comprised of U.S. Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and related companies, specifically those demonstrating superior resilience to climate-related risks and severe weather occurrences. At the core of its methodology is the Climate Robustness and Durability Score (CRDS), a sophisticated quantitative metric that leverages industry-leading insurance catastrophe models and rigorous analytical benchmarks. This scoring system is then integrated with market capitalization to construct the index, aiming for an optimal balance between portfolio diversification and concentrated exposure. The comprehensive scoring process evaluates individual property-level hazard exposures, aggregates these findings at the portfolio level for each REIT, and considers their market value. The investment universe includes all publicly traded U.S. REITs, with the deliberate exclusion of mortgage REITs and certain other predetermined ineligible sectors. Each qualifying REIT receives a distinct score, derived from detailed hazard modeling, exposure analysis, and portfolio-wide aggregation. A flexible climate resilience threshold is then applied to select the final investments. The fund typically holds between 30 and 80 constituents, with their weighting determined by a blended approach combining their CRDS and market capitalization.
