Under typical market conditions, this fund primarily dedicates at least 80% of its total assets to securities and other holdings that produce interest exempt from federal income tax, with municipal instruments being a central investment focus. While the interest earned is generally federal tax-exempt, it may still be subject to the federal alternative minimum tax. The fund also aims to maintain a relatively short duration, as its dollar-weighted average effective maturity usually does not surpass five years.
