Operating globally, Occidental Petroleum Corporation and its affiliates are involved in finding, acquiring, and developing petroleum and natural gas reserves across the United States, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The company's business activities are structured into three distinct divisions: Oil and Gas, Chemical, and Midstream and Marketing. Within the Oil and Gas segment, the focus is on discovering, developing, and extracting crude oil, condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and natural gas. The Chemical division is responsible for the production and distribution of fundamental industrial chemicals, such as chlorine, caustic soda, various chlorinated organic compounds, potassium-based chemicals, ethylene dichloride, chlorinated isocyanurates, sodium silicates, and calcium chloride. It also produces vinyl-based products, specifically vinyl chloride monomer, polyvinyl chloride, and ethylene. The Midstream and Marketing segment undertakes the collection, processing, shipment, storage, procurement, and sale of various commodities including oil, condensate, NGLs, natural gas, carbon dioxide, and electrical power. Additionally, this segment leverages its transport and storage infrastructure for trading operations and makes investments in associated ventures. Founded in 1920, Occidental Petroleum Corporation maintains its corporate headquarters in Houston, Texas.
