The Medical Care Solutions segment offers a comprehensive range of general medical products such as syringes, infusion and syringe pumps, infusion lines, I.V. solutions, peritoneal dialysis fluids, pain management and nutritional products, and adhesion barriers; for patient self-care, it provides blood glucose monitoring systems, disposable needles for pen-injectors, insulin patch pumps, blood pressure monitors, and digital thermometers, while also performing contract manufacturing for pharmaceutical companies, producing prefillable syringes and needles for drug packaging. The Blood and Cell Technologies division focuses on innovations in blood and cell management, offering products such as blood bags, component collection systems, automated blood processing and pathogen reduction systems, centrifugal apheresis systems, and cell expansion systems. Originally founded in 1921 as Sekisen Ken-onki Corporation, the company adopted the name Terumo Corporation in October 1974 and maintains its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.
