Nuveen Select Maturities Municipal Fund is a diversified closed-end management investment company. Its primary investment objective is to provide current income exempt from regular federal income tax, consistent with the preservation of capital. Its secondary investment objective is to enhance portfolio value relative to the municipal bond market through investments in tax-exempt municipal obligations that are underrated or undervalued, or that represent municipal market sectors that are undervalued. The fund has single operating segment.
