The fund's main goal is to generate substantial capital growth for its investors over an extended period. To achieve this, it commits a minimum of 80% of its net assets—supplemented by any borrowed capital used for investment—to common and preferred stocks issued by mid-sized American companies. The subadvisor defines "mid-capitalization companies" as those whose market value, at the moment of purchase, falls within the capitalization spectrum of businesses included in the Russell Midcap® Growth Index.
