Immersion Corp is a licensing company focused on the acceleration, and scaling, through licensing, of haptic technologies that allow people to use sense of touch to engage with products and experience the digital world around them. Its patents cover a wide range of digital technologies and ways in which touch-related technology can be incorporated into and between hardware products and components, systems software, application software, and digital content. It operates in two operating segments: Immersion and Barnes & Noble Education. The majority of revenue is derived from Barnes & Noble Education segment which is a contract operator of physical and virtual bookstores for college and university campuses and K-12 institutions across the United States.
