Quarterhill Inc., a company founded in Toronto, Canada, in 1992, conducts its operations worldwide through two core divisions: intellectual property licensing and intelligent transportation systems. The Licensing segment oversees an extensive collection of patents covering diverse technologies. These include wireless communication, memory interface advancements, semiconductor manufacturing and packaging, wired connectivity, applications for the automotive industry, computer gaming, intelligent personal assistants, advanced image processing, streaming video, various memory technologies (such as non-volatile Flash and DRAM), and semiconductor analog circuitry. Quarterhill's Intelligent Systems segment delivers a wide array of products and services tailored for the intelligent transportation sector. Offerings span red light and speed enforcement systems, automated truck weigh stations, toll road infrastructure and equipment, traffic management and safety solutions, the VectorSense tire sensor suite, the Vehicle Information-In-Motion traffic intelligence system, integrated traffic control setups, permanent and portable slow-speed weigh-in-motion scales, portable wheel load scales, traffic data collection tools, vehicle and axle detection apparatus, and automated vehicle identification services and hardware, among other related hardware and software. This division serves clients directly and through a network of distributors, agents, contractors, and systems integrators. The company rebranded to Quarterhill Inc. in June 2017, having previously operated as Wi-LAN Inc.
